Nepal, Cambodia issue 15-pt joint statement (with full text)

KATHMANDU: Nepal and Cambodia have jointly issued a 15-point statement on the Prime Minister KP Oli’s three-day official visit to the kingdom of Cambodia on Wednesday.

During the three-day visit, the Prime Minister Oli called on Samdech Vibol Sena Pheakdei Say Chhum, President of the Senate and Acting Head of State and also met with Samdech Akka Moha Ponhea Chakkrei Heng Samrin, President of the National Assembly.

Prime Minister Oli had a bilateral meeting with Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen, prime minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia in an atmosphere of friendship and mutual understanding.

The two prime ministers held in-depth discussions on promoting bilateral cooperation in many areas including trade and investment, tourism, culture and education, and exchanged views on regional and international issues of mutual interest.

Meanwhile, Samdech Prime Minister Hun Sen highly commended Nepal’s historical political transformation and its unique homegrown peace process, and the prevailing stability in Nepal under the leadership of Prime Minister KP Oli.

Similarly, the two Prime Ministers also witnessed the signing of the Framework Agreement on Trade and Investment between the Government of the Kingdom of Cambodia and the Government of Nepal, and a Memorandum of Understanding between the Chamber of Commerce of Cambodia and the Chamber of Commerce of Nepal.

Both leaders jointly addressed the Cambodia-Nepal Business Forum and encouraged economic, trade and investment exchanges between the two countries on the occasion.

During the visit, PM Oli extended a cordial invitation to Samdech Prime Minister Hun Sen to visit Nepal at his convenience.

Prime Minister KP Oli’s wife Radhika Shakya, Minister for Foreign Affairs Pradeep Kumar Gyawali, ddvisors to the Prime Minister, parliamentarians, high ranking Government officials and a business delegation had accompanied the prime minister.

Oli is returning home today wrapping up his eight-day official visit to Vietnam and Cambodia.
