KATHMANDU: The Federation of Nepali Journalists (FNJ) has raised serious concern over the arrest of Arjun Giri, editor of Tandav Weekly published from Pokhara for his alleged involvement in cybercrime.

Kaski Police arrested Giri on the basis of a complaint filed against Bipendra Raj Batas of Batas Company at the Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) of Nepal Police.

Giri had last week published a report about a dupery case by Batas.

FNJ, an umbrella organization of Nepali journalists, on Monday issued a statement seeking Giri’s release at the earliest reminding the authorities of the provision of lodging a complaint at the Press Council Nepal.

Likewise, Freedom Forum has also condemned the arrest of Giri.
