India announces ICC World Cup Team 2019



NEW DELHI: India on Monday announced its 15-man squad for the ICC World Cup 2019, Indian media reported.

The World Cup will be played in the UK from May 30, 2019. Reports said Virat Kohli will lead the squad.

Dinesh Karthik has been included in the squad while Rishabh Pant has been excluded.

Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) Chairman of Selectors MSK Prasad announced the squad today.

The team led by kohli comprises five specialist batsmen, three fast bowlers, two wicket-keepers, three all-rounders and two specialist spinners.

India will begin its World Cup campaign against South Africa in Southampton on June 5 this year. The team will play its next match against defending champions Australia at Kennington Oval, London before. Likewise, they will take on New Zealand in Nottingham 4 days later.

India will also play against Pakistan on June 16 in Manchester, and will return to Southampton to play Afghanistan on June 22. India will then play West Indies on June 27, Bangladesh on July 2 and Sri Lanka on July 6.

The team includes: Virat Kohli (captain), Rohit Sharma (vice-captain), KL Rahul, Shikhar Dhawan, Vijay Shankar, Kedar Jadhav, MSD (wk), Yuzvendra Chahal, Kuldeep Yadav, Dinesh Karthik, Jasprit Bumrah, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Ravindra Jadeja, Mohammed Shami, and Hardik Pandya. (Agencies)
