Poudel inaugurates Xian South Asian Study Centre



KATHMANDU: General-Secretary of Nepal Communist Party (NCP), Bishnu Poudel inaugurated the Xian South Asian Study Centre at Xian University in China’s Shaanxi Province on Monday.

The Center said it will conduct research and studies about China and South Asian countries. Established by the Xian Municipal Government, it will also research about the economic development and investment promotion forging economic partnership with the South Asian countries, including Nepal.

Prof Dr Rajiv Kumar Jha is the Director of the Centre. According to him, the Centre will conduct studies about economic, social and other issues of the south Asian countries and China. The Center will also periodically submit reports to the Chinese government exploring the economic prospects with the South Asian countries.

Maintaining that China was a good neighbor to Nepal, Poudel extended the gratitude towards China for its continued support to Nepal. On the occasion, he reiterated Nepal’s One-China policy.

Meanwhile, Poudel is scheduled to hold high-level meetings with Chinese political leaders in Beijing tomorrow.
