Culprits of Banke incident will be booked: Home Minister

KATHMANDU: Home Minister Ram Bahadur Thapa has vowed that those involved in Banke incident occurred during the NC’s ongoing national campaign would be brought to book.

Receiving a memorandum submitted jointly by the district presidents of Nepali Congress from Kathmandu, Bhaktapur, and Lalitpur in Singh Durbar today, Minister Thapa said, “The incident should not have occurred. The government is serious to take action against those involved in it.”

Some of them had already been taken under control and others would also be brought to police investigation soon, the Home Minister reminded.

Kathmandu district president of the Nepali Congress, Sabuj Baniya, said it was condemnable that the district president of the party in Banke, Kiran Koirala, was attacked at the program organized at Sitapur of Banke as part of the nationwide awareness campaign.

Similarly, Lalitpur president of the party, Madan Amatya, accused the administration of not being serious to such incident.

Bhaktapur president of the party, Durlabh Thapa, further said the attack on Banke president was made under the direction of the ruling party after being nervous over the public awareness program launched by the Nepali Congress.
