Dengue fever claims 40 lives in Bangladesh



DHAKA: At least 40 people have died in Bangladesh’s worst-ever outbreak of dengue, as overburdened hospitals struggled to treat thousands of patients.

Similarly, a total of 1,200 new patients infected with mosquito-borne disease dengue were admitted to different hospitals in Bangladesh in the last 24 hours.

Among the infected patients, 595 were admitted in hopitals in Dhaka, according to a latest bulletin by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

In its latest tally, total number of dengue affected patients are 44,471 among whom 7,547 are currently admitted to hospitals in Bangladesh.
