Cabinet decides to coordinate with state and local govt for rescue, relief



KATHMANDU: A meeting of Council of Ministers on Sunday decided to carry out rescue and relief operations in the flood and landslide-hit areas in coordination with the state and local government.

The meeting also decided to reconstruct the house after collecting the data of flood and landslide victims. Similarly, the cabinet directs to smooth the blocked road, electricity and communication services due to the flood and landslide.

Rescue and relief efforts have been expedited through transportations of air, water and road. Various respective bodies of the government, the governments of all three levels, security bodies, local communities and various organizations are making prompt rescue efforts across the country.

The government was dropping edible goods and tents and other emergency medicines via helicopters in different parts of the county.

Likewise, the government has intensified the tasks of reaching reliefs to the needy places.

The Natural Disaster Risk Minimization and Management executive committee  itself had urged the government bodies, security agencies, social organizations, communities and all sides to join hands for the effective and planned rescue operation.

The incidents of landslides, water inundation and floods have increased following incessant rainfall since the past few days in the country and a large number of the people have been affected, with at least 60 deaths and thousands displaced.
