Death toll from floods, landslides climbs to 43

KATHMANDU: The death toll from the monsoon-induced floods and landslides across the country has climbed to 43 as of Saturday night. Some 20 persons have been injured while 24 others are missing.

According to the latest records maintained by Nepal Police, five persons each were killed in Lalitpur and Bhojpur, four persons in Makwanpur, three each lost their lives in Kathmandu, Khotang, Okhaldhunga and Kavre districts each. Similarly, two each died in Sindhuli, Jhapa and Dhading districts and one each has died in Palpa, Parsa, Ramechhap, Ilam, Sunsari, Bara, Rautahat, Siraha, Dhanusa, Chitwan and Dolpa.

Among the deceased, 25 are men and 18 women.

Four persons have been injured in Makwanpur and three in Dhankuta. Two persons each have been injured in Bhojpur, Sunsari, Kavre and Sindhuli. Likewise, one person each in Khotang, Dhading, Chitwan, Dolakha and Ramechhap, police said.

Six people are missing in Sindhuli. Three each in Ilam and Morang and one each in Panchthar, Jhapa, Udayapur, Sunsari, Parsa, Rautahat, Mahottari, Siraha, Dhanusa, Dhading, Kathmandu and Lalitpur.
