GHORAHI: The Forest Division Office Lamahi has begun scientific forest management in Deukhuri, Dang for preserving and promoting forest resource. The roll-out of scientific forest management action plan has kicked off in 17 out of 148 community forests located in four municipal areas of Deukhuri, according to the Division Forest Office Lamahi.
Lal Babu Yadav, Assistant Forest Officer of Division Forest Office Lamahi, shared that the scientific forest management has been already implemented in 15 community forests. The main objective of the scientific forest management is to remove old and fallen trees from community forests and plant new saplings.
The forest office is making preparation to take away the old and hollow trees and produce new plants. Certain tasks have been carried out under scientific forest management at Trishakti community forest in Rajpur rural municipality, Pratappur, Shiva community forest and Surya community forest in Gadhawa rural municipality.
Since the setup of Deukhuri Forest Division Office, substantial progresses have been marked in the management of community forestry and prevention of timber smuggling. The forest office has not only put efforts for checking timber and wildlife smuggling but also actively working for environmental protection.
