Medical colleges overcharging students



KATHMANDU: It has been revealed that medical colleges affiliated to Kathmandu University have been overcharging medical students.

Proof has been found that the colleges have been charging up to Rs three million more than the fee determined by the government, Kantipur Daily reported.

Colleges have been charging fee exorbitantly from students studying MBBS and BDS.

The government has fixed Rs 1.93 million as a fee for BDS. However, the university’s website has mentioned the fee to be Rs 2.32 million.

There has been no mention regarding the fee for MBBS but it has been learned that the colleges have been charging Rs six million as fee and up to Rs 10 million under different pretext.

The government has fixed Rs 3.85 million and Rs 4.24 million as the fee for studying MBBS inside and outside Kathmandu Valley respectively.
