KATHMANDU: President of Bangladesh Mohammad Abdul Hamid has said his country would extend the utmost support to Nepal in realizing its national goal of ‘Prosperous Nepal, Happy Nepali.’
Bangladeshi President, who is currently on a four-day official goodwill visit to Nepal, said this during a meeting with Foreign Minister Pradeep Kumar Gyawali on Tuesday.
Minister Gyawali paid a courtesy call on the President. During the meeting, President Hamid reminded that the then political leadership in Nepal had provided moral support to Bangladesh in its independence movement.
Nepal, he recounted, was the seventh country to recognize Bangladesh as an independent country after the movement. Foreign Minister Gyawali shared such views of Bangladeshi President before the media.
He added that President Hamid stressed strengthening bilateral cooperation and collaboration to reap the utmost benefit from Bangladesh.
Connectivity, energy assistance, use of Bangladesh ports, infrastructure construction, tourism, trade promotion were the issues discussed during the meeting.
Minister Gyawali said that Bangladeshi President’s visit to Nepal added a new dimension to Nepal-Bangladesh relations.
