Ram Bahadur Thapa alleges Bishnu Paudel undermined party remarks

KATHMANDU: Ram Bahadur Thapa ‘Badal’, acting chairman of the CPN-UML, has publicly criticized party deputy chairman Bishnu Prasad Paudel for issuing a statement he claims contradicted his own remarks in Parliament.

Addressing a large cadre meeting organized by the Kaski UML on Wednesday, Badal said that his statements as parliamentary leader had exposed internal and external adversaries of the party.

He alleged that Paudel’s social media post, made a few days earlier, created confusion within the party.

“During the first House meeting, I spoke as the parliamentary leader. Following that, the Central Secretariat convened a meeting and issued another statement,” Badal said. “Once that statement was released, it created further confusion. The party deputy chairman publicly issued a statement.”

Last Thursday, during a House of Representatives session, Badal expressed views that Paudel later criticized on social media, claiming they were inconsistent with the party’s established policies and principles.

Responding to this, Badal said, “People who were incited by that statement, those who were hiding inside but appeared outside, were all exposed. My parliamentary statement merely revealed the right-wing tendencies within the party.”
