Snowfall hits Mustang, disrupting daily life and travel

MUSTANG: Mustang has experienced its seventh snowfall of the season, with fresh snow reported in Baragung Muktikshetra and Upper Mustang since 11:00 pm on Tuesday night.

The district had already witnessed heavy snowfall last Saturday and Monday. Since the first snowfall on Ocotber 27, frequent snow and rainfall have continued even as the winter season draws to a close.

Unseasonal snowfall, despite the onset of summer, has made travel difficult for pilgrims visiting the Muktinath Temple and tourists heading to Upper Mustang. Ward Chair Pramesh Gurung of Baragung Muktikshetra-1 said that mobility has been severely affected, with muddy roads forming as snow melts.

The snowfall has also disrupted daily life in Upper Mustang. Locals are facing difficulties leaving their homes, managing livestock, and taking animals to grazing areas due to the harsh weather conditions.
