Giloy, which is also called Tinospora Cordifolia (Gurjo in Nepali), is an Ayurvedic herb used as medicine for ages.

According to Anshul Jaibharat, a Delhi-based nutritionist, it is known as ‘Amrit’, which literally means the ‘root of immortality’, because of its abundant medicinal properties.

Giloy’s stem can be of maximum utility. Even its roots can also be used. It can be consumed in the form of powder, juice, or even capsules.

Benefits of Giloy

Boost immunity: This herb helps boost immunity since it is called a powerhouse of anti-oxidants. Giloy (Gurjo) helps purifies blood, remove toxins, and fights bacteria that causes diseases.

Reduces signs of aging: Giloy contains anti-aging properties. It also help reduce pimples, dark spots, and wrinkles. It gives flawless and glowing skin.

Fights respiratory problems: Giloy is also popular for its anti-inflammatory benefits. It also helps reduce respiratory problems such as cold, frequent cough, and tonsils.


Treats diabetes: Giloy works as a hypo-glycaemic agent which helps treat diabetes. It also reduces high levels of blood sugar.
