Two drown to death in Nuwakot

NUWAKOT: Two persons drowned to death in a water-filled ditch in Kakani Rural Municipality in the district on Monday.

Binita Balami, 13, a local, and Laxmi Tamang, 35, a permanent resident of Fikkal Rural Municipality, Sindhuli, died after they drowned in the pit which was created in course of unlawful extraction of sand on the banks of Kolpu rivulet in Okharpauwa, Nuwakot police confirmed.

Tamang died while she was opting to save the life of Balami. According to Nuwakot CDO, Drona Pokharel, the accident took place at around 5.30 pm on Monday.
