RSP’s DP Aryal files candidacy for Speaker’s post

KATHMANDU: Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) Vice Chairman DP Aryal has filed his nomination for the post of Speaker of the House of Representatives.

With the ruling party holding a near two-thirds majority, there is little possibility of a competing candidacy, making Aryal likely to be elected unopposed.

The final list of candidates is scheduled to be published at 2:30 pm today. The registered proposals will be presented for decision in the House of Representatives meeting on Sunday, following discussions by the proposer and seconder.

Earlier on Thursday, an RSP parliamentary party meeting had decided to nominate Aryal for the Speaker’s position.
