KATHMANDU: Police have impounded five Indian vehicles for their illegal operation in Dang. The District Traffic Police Dang seized five vehicles with Indian number plates for their illegal operation in transporting goods and ferrying passengers in cheaper price.
According to Madan Kunwar, Chief of Traffic Police Office Dang, they have put tough measures acting on complaints noting the local transport operators have been hit hard due to the operation of Indian vehicles. “There was widespread complaint that the Indian vehicles have entered into Nepali territory in different pretexts and operated vehicular services n a professional way”, he said, adding, “We have increased vigilance on illegal operation of the vehicles carrying Indian number plates”.
Chief Kunwar also informed that necessary action has been taken against five jeeps carrying passengers without route permit. There is a provision that the Transport Management Office can penalize such vehicles up to Rs 5,000. The Indian vehicles with customs permission however can be operated in Nepali territory for definite purpose and time.
