CHITWAN: Chitwan National Park (CNP) is establishing a model center for rearing wildlife on its premises.
Bishnu Prasad Shrestha, Public Information Officer of the Department said that they are engaging their efforts to establish the center to impart information regarding wildlife rearing and its study and research.
The fifth amendments to the National Park and Wildlife Conservation Act 2029 BS have specified provisions on rearing wildlife. Likewise, the fifth amendments to the National Park and Wildlife Conservation Regulation-2030 BS is under discussion in the Council of Ministers.
Shrestha further informed that the setup of the center would ease the purchase of designated embryo for rearing wildlife in the home or other desired places and do the needful research and study on wildlife.
With the amendment to the Act, those willing to rear wildlife can do so by paying the law-stipulated revenue.
He further shared that the center would also demonstrate how to rear wildlife. As per the amendment, people can rear the species of deer, snake, boar, birds and monkey. The CNP has allocated a budget of Rs 8 million for the purpose.
