NC, RJP lawmakers seek withdrawal of Guthi Bill



KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress (NC) and Rastriya Janata Party (RJP) lawmakers have urged the government to repeal the newly tabled Guthi Bill.

Speaking on today’s session of the House of Representatives (HoR), the lawmakers drew the government’s attention towards the recent protest of the trustees (Guthiyaar) in Kathmandu against the Bill. The lawmakers asked the government to fulfill their demands.

Minister for Land Management, Cooperatives and Poverty Alleviation Padma Kumari Aryal had on April 29 presented the Bill in the House.

The recently tables Bill has stipulated the provisions converting the private guthis (trusts) into public guthis and relieving the trustees from the trust.
