ISRO launches spy satellite RISAT-2BR1



NEW DELHI: India has launched RISAT-2BR1, its latest spy satellite, and nine foreign satellites through the Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle (PSLV) from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre in Sriharikota of Andhra Pradesh on Wednesday.

RISAT-2BR1 is a radar that images earth observation satellite. It is developed by India’s space agency ISRO, according to Indian media reports.

Reports said it is mainly meant for application in areas such as agriculture and disaster management support. It has a mission life of five years.

Other satellites are six from the United States, and one each from Italy, Japan and Israel. The applications of these satellites range from remote sensing to earth imaging. (Agencies)
