Ghorahi Sub-Metropolis to buy and sell plastic waste

GHORAHI: Ghorahi Sub-Metropolitan City, Dang said it would buy and sell all plastic wastes to prevent environmental degradation caused by plastic pollution.

Saying that the plastic waste is non-biodegradable and the accumulation of the wastage would only fill the landfill site run by the Ghorahi Sub-Metropolitan City, it has taken this approach towards this end.

The Sub-Metropolitan City has allocated Rs 700,000 to purchase and sell various plastic wastes that could be recycled and reused in this current fiscal year 2019/20.

According to Prem KC, Chief of the Sub-Metropolitan City’s Sanitation Management, the Sub-Metropolis will initially purchase the plastic wastes produced from the ward nos 10, 13, 14, 15, 16 and 17.

They have also urged the locals in these wards to avoid dumping plastic wastes randomly rather than keep them separately so that their representatives would reach out to them to buy such wastes.
