Nepal, India to hold secretary-level meeting to address border issue

KATHMANDU: Nepal and India have agreed to hold a secretary-level meeting to address the border issue between the two countries.

According to sources at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA), Nepal and India will be holding a Foreign Secretary-level meeting within the coming two weeks.

An informal discussion was held through diplomatic channels to hold the meeting after protest raged in different parts of the country against the inclusion of Nepali territories in the news political map unveiled by India.

The date for the secretary-level meeting is said to be fixed on Monday.

Nepali Ambassador to India Nilambar Acharya met high-ranking officials of the Indian Ministry for External Affairs and initiated the process for dialogues, the source added.

It should be noted that protests have also been held in different parts of the country against the encroachment of Nepali lands by China.
