Brazilian national held with 2 kg cocaine at TIA

KATHMANDU: Police have arrested a Brazilian national with two kilograms of cocaine from the Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) on Monday.

Acting on a tip-off that a foreigner was carrying cocaine, Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) of Nepal Police, rounded up Brazilian national Sergio Truh, 61, (passport number XY 75937) with the banned narcotic drugs, confirmed SSP Basanta Lama.

Lama said an investigation is underway after taking Sergio under control.

It is learnt that he had come to Nepal via a flight of Qatar Airways. Cocaine was found in his bag during a security check at the TIA custom office. The seized cocaine is priced at Rs 60 million in the international market.

Sergio has been sent to Koteshwor for further investigation.
