MELAULI: A man has been arrested on the charge of raping a 17-year-old girl from the district on Tuesday evening.

Engineer Roshan Chand, 27, who works for Melauli municipality of the district, has been accused of raping the girl. The arrested was made acting on a complaint filed by the relatives of the rape survivor, said Inspector Kisan Chand.

“Roshan lured and took the girl to Dadeldhura on Monday before raping her,” read the complaint. Roshan would be sent to the Dadeldhura police for investigations, said Inspector Kisan, adding that the rape survivor is receiving health test at a local health institute. She is pursuing civil sub-engineering and receiving on-the-job training at the municipality.
