Chief Justice Rana stresses on independent, fair judiciary

KATHMANDU: Chief Justice Cholendra Shumsher JB Rana has urged all sides to extend support to court for building independent and fair judiciary as ‘judiciary’s lone efforts were not adequate’.

Inaugurating the three-day seminar organized by Supreme Court Bar Association today, CJ Rana reiterated the cooperation from the concerned stakeholders for the free and fair judiciary.

It has been a year of implementation of the Civil and Criminal Codes, which would be further mature in the days ahead, he said, expressing hope that the seminar would be fruitful to share knowledge on private international law, the law of contract and tort.

On the occasion, Nepal Bar Association Chairman Chandeshwor Shrestha also expected that the seminar would be a reliable platform to exchange views on jurisprudence and its practice.

Supreme Court’s Bar Association Chairman senior advocate Khagendra Prasad Adhikari informed that the event would discuss in length the national and international practices on private international law, the law of contract and tort law.

The event is attended by SC Justices, chief judges from seven States and the legal practitioners.
