‘1,400 Nepali workers died in Qatar stadium construction’

KATHMANDU: It has been revealed that a total of 1,400 Nepali migrant workers lost lives in course of constructing a stadium in Qatar for World Cup Football tournament to be held in 2022.

According to a German television report, 1,400 Nepali migrant workers died while constructing the stadium in the period nine years.

“Several Nepali youths died during the construction of Qatar Stadium,” Arab News  quoted German WDR Television as reporting.

German WDR Television had presented the details through an investigative documentary called Trapped in Qatar.

Almost 150 died every year. The  families of the deceased have not received any compensation.
