SC issues show cause notice over JC’s recommendation

KATHMANDU: The Supreme Court (SC) on Thursday issued a show cause notice over the decision of the Judicial Council to recommend High Court judges and SC Justices.

A single bench of Justice Tej Bahadur KC issued a show cause notice in the name of defendants responding to a writ petition filed by advocate Bhakta Bahadur Bishwokarma.

A meeting of JC held on April 2 had recommended five justices to the vacant posts of the apex court and 17 individuals to the posts of High Court judges.

The recommended judges took an oath of office and secrecy from Chief Justice Cholendra Shumsher Rana today, while the recommended Justices are facing a parliamentary hearing.
