Govt to operate night bus services

KATHMANDU: The government is mulling to operate transport services during night in view of late night commuters in the capital.

Almost a dozen vehicular companies have showed their interest to operate night services after the Department of Transport forwarded a proposal.

According to Kumar Dahal, Director General at the Department of Transport, Swayambhu Yatayat, Metropolitan Yatayat, Sajha Yatayat among others have shown their interest to this effect.

Public vehicles are not found after 8 pm and the passengers are compelled to pay an exorbitant taxi fare to reach their houses. According to Dahal, it would give rise to night time businesses and contribute to economic growth if night bus services were brought into operation.
