Tuberculosis goes out of control



KATHMANDU: A report jointly unveiled by National Tuberculosis and Worth Health Organization has warned  that the tuberculosis has gone out control.

At a high level meeting of the United Nations, Nepal had set a goal to reduce tuberculosis to 95 percent and treatment expenses on the disease to zero by 2035.

However, the disease will spread by 67 percent if the effective measures are taken immediately.

National Tuberculosis Fifth-year Plan, 2016 had stated that disease would be controlled by 48 percent.

The Nepal government had spent Rs 22 billion for the control of the disease. The tuberculosis patients were 45,000 in 2005. The number of the patients is estimated to have grown to 80,000 now.

Around 7,000 people are dying of tuberculosis every year.
