KATHMANDU: Over 300 Nepali women being trafficked to third countries via India and Bangladesh have been rescued in the last six months.

They were rescued by Nepali Embassy in India with the help of Indian Women Commission and non-government organizations while human traffickers were taking them to third countries via India with the lure of lucrative jobs.

According to Nepali Embassy,  over 2,000 women are stranded in various Indian cities seeking a passage to third countries.

Manpower agencies in cahoots with human traffickers take around 20 women to India on a daily basis promising visas of third countries, according to CIB of India Police.

On March 30, as many as 12 Nepali women taken hostage in New Delhi had been rescued.
