RUPANDEHI: Kakarahawa checkpoint in the district will remain closed for three days in view of Lok Sabha elections in India.

With the closer of the Nepal-India border, the import-export of goods will remain halted for some days, said Chief District Officer Udaya Rana. However, the transport of essential goods will continue.

“A short-term closer of checkpoint will not affect Nepal,” said CDO. The decision was taken by  a joint meeting held between security officials of Nepal and India 15 days ago.

The general election is taking place in Siddharthanagar of Uttarpradesh to which Kakarhawa adjoins today.

Likewise, Krishnanagar, Khunuhawa, Chakarchauda checkpoints will also remain closed.
