13th SAG: India tops the list with 145 gold medals, Nepal second



KATHMANDU: India has continued to hold its top position in the list of medals in the 13th South Asian Games (SAG) underway in three different cities of Nepal. Nepal is following India in the list.

As per the latest medal tally, India has clinched a total of 258 medals, including 145 gold medals, 76 silver and 37 bronze.

Nepal has won a total of 177 medals, including 45 gold medals, 48 silver and 84 bronze. Likewise, Sri Lanka is in the third position in the winning list with 33 gold medals, 56 silver and 95 bronze.

Pakistan has won 23 gold, 29 silver and 49 bronze. Bangladesh is in the fifth position with seven gold medals, 22 silver and 55 bronze. The Maldives is in the sixth position with a gold medal and two silver and Bhutan is in the last position with 2 silver and 12 bronze medals.

On Saturday, Nepal won a gold each in marathon and wrestling. For Nepal, Kiran Singh Bogati bagged gold in men’s marathon after 24 years. Likewise, Sangita Dhami won gold in women’s 55 kilograms category. This is the first SAG gold won by a Nepali athlete in wrestling. She beat her Bangladeshi contender.
