Three arrested with 1.5 kg gold at TIA

KATHMANDU: Three persons have been arrested with 1.5 kg gold from Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) on Monday.

According to police, Hom Bahadur Gurung, who had arrived Kathmandu from Qatar through a flight of Himalayan Airlines was nabbed with the precious yellow metal.

The gold was hidden in a karuwa, a typical Nepali vessel used to drink, store or serve water, wine or alcohol.

Two persons who had reached the airport to receive the gold too have been arrested. The arrestees are Bhojraj Ghimire of Sanischhare-9 and Anil Luitel of Sanischhare-2 of Morang.

The trio has been handed over to TIA Customs Office, police said.
