Large Taxpayer Office gives 15-day notice to Ncell to pay capital gains tax amount

KATHMANDU: The government has fixed a new capital gains tax amount for Ncell, a private telecommunication company, for the company’s 2016 buyout deal.

The Large Taxpayer Office has given a 15-day notice to the company.

The decision to this effect was made following a recent Supreme Court verdict.

With the new decision, the Ncell will have to pay Rs 22 billion and 445 million.

The Large Taxpayer Office has earlier had fixed Rs 60 billion and Rs 712 million as the total CGT amount saying that the company was yet to pay Rs 39 billion and 606 million.

Ncell had then filed a case against the decision at the Supreme Court.

The SC verdict had asked Ncell to pay Rs 21 billion, 104 million.
