Water in Sikta canal arrives in Ranjha



NEPALGUNJ: The water gushing in the canal of the Sikta Irrigation Project, a project of national pride, has arrived in Ranjha of Banke district.

The water arrived in Ranjha after passing though Duduwa, the western section of the canal.

Minister for Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation Barshaman Pun, while inspecting the project on November 5, had directed the concerned to flow the water on the canal by carrying out the necessary repair.

Likewise, water has started flowing on Sighaniya section.

According to Director General Madhukarraj Bhandari at the Department of Irrigation, the water was released at the rate one cubic meter at first and is currently flowing at 200 cubic meters.

The national pride project aims to provide irrigation facilities to 42,000 hectors of land. With the 60 percent progress achieved, irrigation facility has reached 3,000 hectors of land.
