SINDHUPALCHOWK: The Upper Bhotekoshi Hydropower Project that had remained closed for the last six years due to landslide and earthquake has started test transmission.

Chief Executive Officer Bikram Sthapit said that the 45-megawatt project will start commercial transmission after 15 days.

The hydropower project with a dam at Tatopani in Bhotekoshi Rural Municipality and generation plant at Jhirpu was badly damaged by landslides triggered by the 2015 earthquake.

Sthapit said that only 22-25 megawatts electricity only is being generated due to a decreased water flow in the river.
