Gang of eight arrested on robbery charge

KATHMANDU: Police have arrested eight persons on the charge of involvement in multiple robbery cases.

According to the Metropolitan Police Range Kathmandu, police arrested a people of eight in Balaju in Kathmandu on Saturday. Among those arrested was a cadre of the outlawed ‘Biplav-led outfit’, and a runaway soldier of the Nepal Army (NA).

Yorsang Ghale of Rasuwa was an active Biplav cadre in his home district. Former NA soldier, Kushal Adhikari, had begun a restaurant and dance bar business after running away from the army.

Police said other arrested have been identified as Peter Tamang, Bijaya Tamang, Dharma Raj Tamang, Ram Bahadur Tamang, Yuba Raj Bhandari, and Rajan Tamang.

Those arrested were looking for a buyer to sell some gold, which as police suspect was smuggled from China.

Police have confiscated one kilogram of gold, two Chinese pistols, two magazines, and four rounds of bullets from the group, which was made public at a press meet on Sunday.
