District-wide campaign to control dengue in Bhaktapur



MADHYAPUR THIMI: In the wake of the rampant outbreak of dengue, a district-wide campaign has been launched by devising a mechanism to control the disease.

The campaign has been launched as per the decision of the discussion held under the coordination of Chief of District Coordination Committee, Nabaraj Gelal, in the presence of Chief District Officer, Narayan Bhatta, and representatives of security bodies and municipalities.

Gelal said they decided to run programs in partnership with the civil society organizations working on the health sector, school and local levels so that the awareness programs would be intensified at the community level.

Similarly, the four municipalities of the district would distribute pamphlets mention awareness message at public places, school and houses. Rapid response teams would also be formed at all government and private hospitals for the treatment of dengue disease. The District Health Office would deploy three officers in each municipality as a facilitator.

Moreover, the district-level team has been formed under the coordination of senior public health officer, comprising the representatives of different bodies. Various programs have been forwarded to control and cure the diseases, said officer Krishna Bahadur Mijar.

Administrative officer of Suryabinayak Municipality, Kamal Gyawali, and administrative officer of Changunarayan municipality, Chiranjibi Timsina, said that they were taking initiatives to reduce the dengue outbreak.
