Kathmandu gets a face-lift to welcome Chinese President

KATHMANDU: Various teams in the capital are working to give a face lift in areas including Tinkune in the capital on the eve of Chinese President Xi Jinping’s visit in the second week of October.

Several plants and flowers of various species such as kalki, palm and arborvitae have been planted in Tinkune. The Tinkune area has got a new life.

Employees of Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) have been engaged in decorating and improving the roads in Kathmandu.

People have also been engaged in arranging stone slabs, cleaning and decorating the roads and streets of Kathmandu.

A tanker has also been engaged to sprinkle water on the newly planted stretch of grass and plants.

Likewise, blacktopping of the roads, repairing traffic signs and planting trees on the road side have been going on at a war-footing.

Decoration works are also being done from the Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) to the city area.

Sweeping of the roads is also going on and workers have remained busy painting the Maitighar Mandala.

The government has started preparing for President Xi’s visit and has instructed the security bodies to stay on high alert.
