KATHMANDU: Main opposition Nepali Congress  on Wednesday registered a proposal of public importance at the parliament to heap pressure on the government to properly arrange quarantine and ease the exports of medicinal herbs.

NC lawmakers registered the proposal arguing that the lack of proper quarantine management created hurdles while exporting medicinal herbs to foreign countries.

Proposed by lawmaker Rangamati Shahi, it has been seconded by lawmakers Bal Krishna Khand, Dila Sangraula and Prakash Rasaili.

Medicinal herbs are the main source of income for Nepali people living in the mountain and hill. The lack of proper arrangement of quarantine has not only impacted the employment of thousands of Nepali people but also incurred loss to their income, reads the proposal.
