25 injured in Swedish bomb explosion

LINKOPING: A powerful explosion has damaged buildings and injured 25 people in the southern Swedish town of Linkoping. The cause of the explosion is being investigated.

Police have opened a criminal investigation into the incident, which occurred shortly after 7am local time (5pm AEST). a bomb squad was dispatched to the scene in downtown Linkoping, about 175km southwest of Stockholm.

Police spokeswoman Asa Willsund said, “There is nothing that indicates that this incident is terror-related, we do not see that.” “We estimate that there are 25 people with minor injuries – no serious injuries or deaths.”

A large blast had destroyed the windows and balconies of a five-storey residential building and damaged other neighboring buildings. (Agencies)
