KATHMANDU: The strong storm that lashed Kailali and Kanchanpur districts in Sudurpaschim State was caused due to the combined effect of the low-pressure system in the west, a moisture-laden wind from the Bay of Bengal and local wind, according to the Meteorological Forecasting Division

Senior meteorologist at the Division Barun Poudel said that the system that was developed in the districts on Thursday evening moved eastward and triggered rainfall in Kathmandu Valley.

The met office has said that pre-monsoon activity will repeat towards the evening with the possibility of light to moderate rain accompanied by a gusty wind.
