KATHMANDU: The Ministry of Infrastructure Development has allocated Rs 670.1 million for the feasibility study and construction of around a dozen tunnel road projects in the upcoming fiscal year 2083/84.
The allocation has been included in the ministry’s annual development programme for the next fiscal year recently made public.
Of the total allocation, Rs 500 million has been earmarked for the construction of the under-construction Siddhababa Tunnel Project.
According to the annual programme, Rs 126.6 million has been allocated for the Gwarko–Satdobato–Ekantakuna flyover project.
Similarly, the ministry has set aside Rs 37.78 million under the Tunnel Road Development Programme.
For the Tokha–Chhahare–Gurju Bhanjyang tunnel road project, the government has allocated Rs 1.148 million.
The ministry has also earmarked Rs 190,000 for feasibility studies of various proposed tunnel projects.
Among individual projects, Rs 560,000 has been allocated for a tunnel study from Surkhet’s Bheri River to Danuwa Lake in Bardiya.
Likewise, Rs 1.89 million has been allocated for the Dolalghat–Charnawati tunnel project, while the Hattisar–Babai tunnel has received Rs 756,000.
The Khurkot–Chiyabari tunnel feasibility study has been allocated Rs 392,000.
Similarly, Rs 392,000 each has been allocated for the Shivapur–Bhaluwang and Ranighat–Bhurigaun tunnel road studies.
The ministry said the projects are aimed at improving connectivity and supporting long-term transport infrastructure expansion across different regions of the country.
