KATHMANDU: The term of 19 lawmakers including Finance Minister Yuba Raj Khatiwada of the National Assembly (NA) is expiring on March 3 next year.

With the term expiring in the next three months, the Election Commission Nepal (ECN) is holding talks with the major political parties on the elections of the Upper House on coming Monday.

“The ECN is holding a meeting with the political parties to this effect on coming Monday,” said Raj Kumar Shrestha, spokesperson of the ECN.

The term of 19 lawmakers of the 59-member National Assembly is expiring on March 3, 2020.

Eighteen among the 19 lawmakers will be appointed through elections while the remaining one will be nominated by the President on the recommendation of the government.
