KATHMANDU: India has climbed atop the medal tally, with a total of 124 medals, as the 13th South Asian Games (SAG) has come mid-way.
In the mega regional sports event being held in Kathmandu and two other venues – Pokhara and Janakpur – since December 1, India has so far won 62 gold medals, 41 silver and 21 bronze.
Host country Nepal stands second in the medal tally with 101 medals comprising 36 gold, 27 silver and 38 bronze. Sri Lanka has the third highest medals with 17 gold, 35 silver and 55 bronze.
Pakistan is in the fourth position with 15 gold medals, 23 silver and 24 bronze while Bangladesh is ranked fifth in the medal tally with 4 gold medals, 11 silver and 45 bronze.
Maldives has secured sixth position with one gold medal, two bronze while Bhutan is at the bottom of the medal tally with only 6 bronze medals. The SAG will continue until December 10.
