Still some more days for monsoon to be active

KATHMANDU: The monsoon has not become active even in the first week of July. According to the Meteorological Forecasting Division (MFD), this is because the low pressure isobar is still situated in central India and has not yet advanced towards Nepal.

Although the monsoon has entered the country, it is still weak and the alternating pattern of it sometimes appearing stronger and sometimes weaker continues, meteorologist Bibhuti Pokharel said. “The monsoon trough is located in central India. It will take three or four days for it to gradually move into Nepal,” she said.

The Division has issued weather forecast for the coming three days. According to the forecast, the weather will remain generally to completely cloudy in the western part of the country with chances of light rain. Likewise, generally cloudy condition will prevail throughout the country with possibility of light to moderate rain in some places on Sunday.

On Monday, the weather will be partly to generally cloudy throughout the country with chances of light to moderate rain in one or two places. The latest weather update of the Division showed the minimum temperature in Kathmandu Valley at 21.0 degrees Celsius and the maximum temperature at 30 degrees Celsius.

The highest temperature throughout the country was recorded in Nepalgunj today. The maximum temperature in Nepalgunj was 36.5 degrees Celsius today.
