Department revokes certificates of 5,302 non-renewed pharmacies

KATHMANDU: The Department of Drug Administration has revoked the certificates of 5,302 pharmacies whose registration renewal had expired.

Issuing a notice on Tuesday, the department said the action was taken in line with the amended provisions of Section 11 of the Drugs Act.

The department stated that under Sub-section (5) of the same section, licences, recommendation letters and certificates that are not renewed within the stipulated time period are automatically deemed cancelled.

According to the department, the decision applies to pharmacies that failed to renew their operating certificates within the deadline, and the move has been made public to inform all concerned stakeholders.

Pharmacy operators have been urged to verify the status of their certificates, complete necessary renewal procedures, and strictly comply with prevailing legal provisions and departmental guidelines while continuing pharmaceutical sales and distribution.

The department also informed that a list of pharmacies whose certificates were automatically revoked up to June 12 has been published along with the notice.
