Minor girl dies after being administered ‘wrong blood group’



KATHMANDU:  A minor girl has died after being administered ‘wrong blood group’ in course of replacing her heart valve.

Akriti Kumari, 5, who underwent heart surgery at Shahid Gangalal National Heart Center, Bansbari on April 30, has died today. Kumari, who originally hails from Sarlahi, had been admitted at the hospital on April 26.

Her family members have claimed that she died after the hospital administered her wrong blood group. They have maintained that she was given ‘A’ positive blood group instead of ‘O’ positive.

A meeting is underway at the hospital following the death of the child. The family has not received the body of the child yet.
