Court starts recording murder-accused Alam’s statements

KATHMANDU: Rautahat District Court has started recording statements of murder-accused  Mohammed Aftab Alam on Tuesday.

A single bench of Judge Deepak Dhakal is recording Alam’s statements, said Gunaraj Parajuli, record keeper at the Rautahat district court.

The Office of the District Attorney, Rautahat on Monday filed a case against 10 individuals including Alam on murder and explosion charges demanding their life in prison.

A Nepali Congress lawmaker Alam on October 13, 2019, was arrested in connection with an explosion and the subsequent murder of at least 23 persons in Rautahat 12 years ago.

Alam was elected to the federal parliament from Rautahat constituency-2 in the 2017 elections.
