Agriculture Minister Chakrapani Khanal infected with dengue virus



KATHMANDU: Minister for Agriculture and Livestock Development Chakrapani Khanal has been infected with dengue virus. Khanal has been undergoing treatment at Grande International Hospital, Tokha since Wednesday.

Minister Khanal was admitted to Nidan Hospital, Lalitpur after he complained of high fever and headache following his return from Hetauda.

Nidan Hospital referred Khanal to Shukraraj Tropical and Infectious Disease Hospital, Teku on the suspicion of dengue virus symptoms.  Khanal was diagnosed with dengue virus after he underwent blood test, according to his personal secretariat.

Mosquito-borne dengue virus, which was first detected in Sunsari in April, has spread in 48 districts so far.

A total of 2, 559 people have been infected with dengue virus in the last one and a half months, according to Epidemiology and Disease Control Division.
